Johannes Brahms Musikschule 'The World of SUZUKI™'

That was a wonderful “The World of Suzuki” today in the packed hall of our newly refurbished Music School.

It was a musical celebration of the students of the SUZUKI™ classes of Elisabeth Schmetterer, Simone Mustein, Lisa Egger-Charvat (violin), Julia Bendl (flute) and Michael Koller (trumpet).

Soloistic contributions and various ensembles showed the way of the very young students up to the "professionals".

Short lectures on the SUZUKI™ Method gave parents a good insight into the philosophy behind the method, which established itself as the Mother Tongue Method of Japanese Violinist Shinichi Suzuki around the world.

At JBMS since 2018, there is even its own SUZUKI™ Centre, which is primarily dedicated to the promotion and development of the method as well as to the students and teachers.

Many of the young talents have once again proved today that the music and the instrument play an important role in the development when they become part of their own and family life.  Parental support is very important in doing this.

With the principles of "listening-perceiving-observing", the promotion of listening habits associated with playing without notes, the combination of individual and group lessons, the participation of parents and regular performances, even very young children create incredible things on their instruments.

We are very proud of the achievements of our students and are very happy about the commitment of the parents. Learning an instrument is ultimately a “long term commitment”, so it takes years and requires the support of parents and teachers.  If it is possible that "the instrument is only played on the days when children eat", then they have already learned an important point.

This is how our Suzuki Practice Challenge also starts on 11.11.2024, in which the children will play on their instruments every day for 80 days.  Results will be posted on Thursday 13th February 2025 at 18 o'clock in the town hall at our prize-winning concert of the "Brahms Music Winter Festival 2025".
