Haukur F Hannesson retired as Honorary President of the European Suzuki Association (ESA) in April 2020 after 33 years of service on the ESA Board in a number of posts - Country Director for Iceland, Instrument Director for Violoncello, Deputy Chairman, Chairman for many years and finally Honorary President.

Haukur F. Hannesson Royal Albert Hall London 27.3.2016In the years that Haukur has been involved with the ESA, there has been considerable development.  The ESA has grown from 11 to 25 Country Members and moved from the pioneer phase of its development into the established organisation that it is today.  Haukur was instrumental in the development and installation of the whole Teacher Training process including publication of the Teacher Training and Examinations Manual, Conduct of Examinations and appointment of Instructors and Teacher Trainers.  Teacher Conferences, Teacher Trainer Meetings and Conventions also played an important role in bringing the membership along with an ever-evolving association.

Haukur’s skill in always seeking optimal structures and processes as the organisation grew was key to the ESA's success in becoming a key player in the global Suzuki movement today.
