 Membership

Most members of the European Suzuki Association (ESA) belong to ESA through membership of their own national Suzuki association.  There are currently 24 National Suzuki Associations in the ESA region.  The ESA region consists, for the time being, of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

All teachers, Suzuki parents, educators and other interested people who wish to become members of ESA should contact the national association in the country where they live for information about membership. (Go to National Suzuki Associations for contact details)

If you live in country which has no national Suzuki Association, individual associate membership of ESA is available, and should be obtained by all practising Suzuki teachers.  Please see further information below, or download the membership form, or contact the ESA office for further details.

If you live in a country without a national Suzuki association and would like to help found an association, you are invited to contact the ESA Office and you may also use this link to download Guidelines for establishing a national Suzuki Association

Information is also available on the process of applying for National Association Membership of ESA

Membership fees or dues

All members who belong to their own national Suzuki association pay an annual membership fee to that association.  Some of the money goes to the association’s own work; a proportion, depending on the number of teacher members, is paid to ESA.

ESA, in turn pays an amount, also based on the number of teachers, to the International Suzuki Association (ISA) -currently USD 6 per teacher per year.  This means that all those who belong to a National Suzuki Association or are individual associate members of ESA, also have membership of ISA.  This is an important contribution, as ISA is the owner of the Suzuki Name and Trademark.  Only those who are members are entitled to use the Suzuki Name, and only those teachers, who are qualified, are permitted to call themselves Suzuki teachers.

Membership Categories

ESA has several different categories or levels of membership, which depend on the Suzuki qualifications of the individual member.  These categories apply both in the case of those who are members through their national Suzuki association and those who are individual associate members.

Individual Membership categories

A members            Fully qualified Suzuki teachers (ESA level 5 [ESA diploma]) or recognised qualification outside Europe (as determined by the ESA Board)

B1 members          Accredited Suzuki teachers (ESA level 3 or 4 [ ESA accreditation]

B2 members          Suzuki teachers with ESA levels 1 and 2

B3 members          Teachers with no formal Suzuki qualification

C members:           all others (including Suzuki parents)

Only qualified persons, A, B1 and B2 members or those with equivalent qualifications from other regions which have been validated by the ESA Board, are entitled to describe themselves as Suzuki teachers.
